I find inspiration for dialog [I’m a screenwriter] while out and about. Sometimes I am away from my desk most of the day, accompanying family members to their medical appointments. I have found that the conversations in doctor’s waiting rooms are some of the most succinct and riveting I have ever unintentionally overheard.

With this handsome and generously sized journal I know I would have plenty of room to jot down the real words, anguished cries, and tearful exclamations of people faced with life’s biggest challenges. (My own emotional responses to them would be important to note as well.) These intangible and dramatic moments are what make any creative writing stand out and draw the reader or viewer deeper into the work. That’s the best kind of writing. The TOPS Idea Collective Journal would help me produce my best work by giving me the freedom to record my thoughts, feelings, and experiences.

I would love to use the TOPS Journal to track my “To Do List” for work and home. I am the Office Manager for a busy office and if I do not keep list, I will not get my task completed. This would be perfect!

  • I would use the TOPS Idea Journal to keep track of all those things that get written on a sticky note here; the back of my deposit slip; on a envelope in my purse. Organization is what I’m after. That use to not be a problem but with age it seems I have a little less energy to get things “together”, but continue to work full-time. It would actually be useful at work as well.
Thank you for this opportunity. SHOPLET is a great place to SHOP!

I always keep a journal for work, to keep track of my trips, dates, times etc.

  • Alyssa Jean

I would use it daily to keep track of the ways people can parlay their law degree into non-traditional career paths. I’m working on some ideas for myself, but I know there are a lot of people out there without a job due to the unfortunate reality that the legal market is so overly saturated; the projected job growth numbers in the legal industry from the U.S. Department of Labor over the next ten years are equally grim. Hopefully my frequent scribbles in this notebook will amount to a useful guide for people to reexamine their career options and discover possibilities they previously were unaware existed. Whether I’m using the notebook at school, home, at work, when commuting on the bus and simultaneously getting squished by people from all directions, or during my relaxing, book-light writing time before bed, one thing is for sure: the notebook will be along for the ride.

  • Miguel Coronel

I would use it on my way home from school to keep track of my homework.

  • I would use it to keep track of all the ideas I’m having as I’m rebranding and relaunching my business. It would really help to stay focused.

  • Perrin

I would take it to both my jobs, out wherever I went, and even next to the bed. I’m working on a novel (with at least two others at the first draft stage awaiting further attention) and inspiration strikes at any time, in any place, and I need a quality journal if I’m to capture lightning in a book.

I’d want a journal on my bedside table and one in my upper right desk drawer. Dreams and great ideas are slippery vaporous things. One needs to grab them quick and careful, or they disappear.

I follow Shoplet and Tops on Twitter. I have tried to pass on my Journaling to my 2 daughters one is 13 and the other is 7. When every I get my Journal filled up I always take them with me and let them also pick out a new Journal. My oldest daughter seems to fill hers up just as fast as I do. However, my youngest seem to enjoy writing stories and drawing pictures in her for the time being. Hopefully one day she will write more aout herself and her adventures.

  • Shannon Spaulding

I also like Shoplet and Tops on Facebook. I use to be a person that held everything in it wasn’t until I went back to college that I had a writing class where I had to write 1 page at least every night about anything I wanted. So I wrote about things that went on the day before or that day that I need to get off my chest. I still keep a journal maybe I don’t get to do it everyday but I do it at least 4 to 5 times a week it helps me alot.

I would use it for the two new and unexpected additions in our family. Even though the three year old has been in our lives for almost three years and the two year old has been with us since birth, I was hesitant to start a journal until it became official they would be in our lives forever. It would be very nice to have a memory book for each of them.

  • Shannon Spaulding

I would use this journal in my daily life to write down what every is on my mind, things that happened and how they affected me. I also would take it wit me when we travel and go camping to write about where we went and what we did as a family so when I get older and I am gone my kids can go back and read about how my life changed with them in it.
