The holidays are a time to spend time with loved ones and show them how much you care- with presents that sometimes leave you scratching your head and asking “what? why?” In this week’s roundup, we’ll share stories of some of the worst Christmas presents that not only should have never been gifted; they should have never been bought.

“Back when I had braces, my dentist gave me an inspirational book that I immediately knew I was never going to read. This didn’t stop him from asking me if I had read the book every time I came to see him. Finally, I was forced to read the book when I couldn’t put it off any longer without making future appointments awkward (even though they already were).”

No disappointment? No problem!

“There were two Christmases in a row I didn’t receive any presents. At all. Does that count as a worst Christmas gift?”

When I was ten, my mother got me a racing car set that took over an hour to put together, a long time to put away, and cost a little over $20. It was a sympathy present because I got bad grades in school. She promised to get me the present I wanted if my grades improved. My little brother? He ended up getting the coolest video games out at the time. Total cost of his presents: $400. Even though my grades improved the following year, I never did get that Game Boy.”

A bit literal, but the message came in loud and clear

“This one time, me and my little brother got our stockings filled with actual coal. We didn’t think it was funny at all and thought that all we were getting was coal. We ended up getting our real presents after all.”

Oh. Thanks?

“My little sister got me a wallet with a dog on it. I knew her heart was in the right place, but I never used it.”

“For secret Santa, I had a coworker give me a bag of candy that had obviously been repackaged.”

No pain, no gain

“There was this one Christmas where my brother got me free passes to his gym. That wouldn’t have been so bad, but then he forced me to go with him.”

The holidays can be a great time for giving and showing the people in your life that you care about them, but sometimes it’s best to express this love in other ways. If you guys are expecting presents, we hope you enjoy them!
