Today is Fountain Pen Day! Yeah, there’s such a thing. We’re totally stoked about it because we absolutely love fountain pens. Better make that all pens in general. Fountain Pen Day takes place on the first Friday in November each year.
The day is celebrated by enthusiasts worldwide as a time to embrace, promote, and share the use of fountain pens and the art of handwriting. The very first celebration happened in 2012 and has since helped to revive writing as a whole. There’s noting more endearing than a lovely hand written note. We decided to celebrate by bringing you some of the most impressive fountain pens in existence.

Titanic DNA Fountain Pens- $5,000
Designer, Romaine Jerome, created an exquisite masterpiece of a pen that was inspired by nautical elements. So, what makes this pen worth a steep $5,000? Each fountain pen is crafted with precious materials such as palladium, stainless steel, gold and brass. It also features a piece of Titanic history. Each pen features a ring around the barrel that combines pieces of rusting steel from the Titanic and steel from the Harland & Wolff shipyard where it was built. You literally have a piece of TITANIC history in your pen. That alone makes the $5,000 price tag seem pretty affordable.
Forbidden City by Visconti- $42,000
This pen features 18 carat gold, diamonds and black resin. Visconti invented an innovative Power Filler filling system specially for its pens. The intricate design and amazing filigree makes this pen an impressive $42,000.
Boehme Papillion Pen by Montblanc- $230,000
This pen was available in white, yellow and rose gold and was dripping with nearly 1,500 diamonds. This pen is topped with Montblanc’s distinctive diamond cap and fetched a modest $230,000. No big deal, right?
La Modernista Diamond Pen- $265,000
This pen was crafted in tribute to the 1920’s architect Antonio Gaudi. This pen is crafted with solid silver and features an 18 carat gold nib. This pen is reminiscent of art deco style architecture and has sold for almost $265,000.
Mystery Masterpiece by Montblanc and Van Cleef and Arpels- $740,000
This powerhouse collaboration took more than a year to come together. Buyers were able to purchase this flashy pen in their choice of rubies, sapphires or emeralds. Only three pieces in each stone variation were ever made.
Diamante by Aurora- $1.3 million
This pen is so exclusive that only one is made every year. We’re sure the wealthiest of the wealthy are all clamoring for it. This pen is made of a solid platinum barrel and almost 30 carats of diamonds. This pen can also be customized to the owners desire.
Fulgor Nocturnus by Tibaldi- $8 Million
This gorgeous pen has alot more going for it than meets the eye. This pen is based on divine proportions of phi. What this means for the Fulgor Nocturnus is that the ratio between the cap and the visible portion of the barrel equals exactly 1.618 when the pen is closed. It is also encrusted with over 900 black diamonds and another 100+ rubies. Wanna know how to get your hands on this amazing pen? You’ll have to hunt down the person who bought it.
