1) Reusable Mugs > Disposable Cups
While it’s certainly easy to use the disposable cups next to the drip coffee maker, it’s far from eco-friendly. Did you know that if you use just one disposable coffee cup every day, you’ll end up contributing about 23 lbs of waste per year? You don’t have to be a contributing factor to the world’s deteriorating environment! It’s easy to just bring in your own mugs and leave them at your office desk. When you sip your morning cup o’joe out of a ceramic mug, the earth smiles back at you with sincere gratitude.
2) Clean Green
Green cleaning supplies is great for a multitude of reasons. Aside from the fact that eco-friendly cleaning supplies reduces our carbon footprint, green cleaning supplies also decreases our overall exposure to toxic chemicals, reducing asthma-related attacks and sickness; for this reason, it is especially encouraged that family households and schools switch their cleaning products to eco-friendly products.
3) LED Bulbs!
Speaking of light, don’t turn your lights on at all! Situate your desk near a window to work by daylight ;)
4) Green your Commute
As it is with pens, paper, and file cabinets, your office could not function without you. If you live nearby your employees, carpooling reduces energy consumption and costs a great deal less.
5) Recycle everything!
I mean really. How difficult is it to toss your glass bottle in the trash can titled “Glass Only”? (Answer: it’s not difficult at all). Recycling is easy! And it saves the planet!
