« Hallmark Recordable Storybook GIVEAWAY!SpiritHalloween.com »2010 Pink Power Mom Winners!
Oct 11th, 2010 by Tara Bucci

The time has come and the 2010 Pink Power Mom Winners have been selected! Thank you to everyone who shared and submitted their stories about their Pink Power Mom to Babymommablog and to http://www.pinkpowermom.com! Please visit http://www.pinkpowermom.com to see the 2010 Pink Power Mom Award Winners! Each one of these extraordinary women has touched the lives of their families and communities.

My mother has raised 4 children and continues to raise 3 grandchildren. Back in 2003 her doctor told her that she had a lump in her left breast, when she told us kids about it, of course we were afraid for her, but she tried to tell us that it was probably nothing to worry about. The doctor scheduled her for a biopsy, and we all were waiting until after it was done to go into her room to see her. We ask her, well, mom, is everything ok? What did the doctor tell you? She looked at us and told us that it was cancer, so he removed my breast and some of my lympnodes. I remember being so sad and feeling really bad for her, while wondering at the same time…Did he get it all…Has it spread? But while my mom was lying there, she looked at us and said…awww it will be ok, don’t worry about me, I’ll just get a falsie.. LOL! She is a very brave woman, if she was sad or depressed, she never let us know it. My mom is cancer free and I thank GOD above that I still have her in my life!! I show my support by collecting tabs from soda cans, from my family, neighbors and friends, and donating them to my local cancer center and reminding everyone that I know, the importance of a breast exam. Thank you, Paula C.

  167. Elizabeth says:

Growing up, my favorite color used to be light blue. I did not know anything about wearing pink to support the research for breast cancer, until I moved to Florida ten years ago and began to work in a hospital. Since then, pink has become my favorite color. Not only do I wear it for the month of October, but I wear it throughout the year. I have 1/3 of my wardrobe and accessories is pink. I have the t-shirts with the slogans: “fight like a girl”, “we have to take care of our girls”,and a few others, even the bracelet that says, “I love boobies” which got me in trouble at work. All my electronic cases are pink; my camera cover, cell phone, Flip camera, everything is pink, even the pens I use have the breast cancer slogans on them. This is something that should be recognized ALL year round, not just for the month of October. Everyone should support this cause. It affects ALL of us in one way or another, may it be a mom, an aunt, a sister or just a friend, even a friend of a friend. “Us girls have to stick together.”
I have seen many guys with the color pink on for support and it brings a smile to my face. I think that is so awesome…

Today is an awesome day! I just returned from Fort Belvoir where the Officers Wives Club had vendor’s tables, raffles, games and a luncheon all dedicated to the support of research for breast cancer. Pink was everywhere; the lunch tables, the vendors; products, etc. I donated about $150 by buying raffle tickets and products. The proceeds from these purchases went to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. I have purchased other awareness items as gifts for family and friends with breast cancer. I hope I live to see the cure! Thanks for letting me share this.

  202. Carissa says:

Of course, I buy everything that is pink and goes towards breast cancer research whenever I can. The fun color of the items help to brighten my office and they can also make good gifts (like the tote up above)!
