Friday Fun: Best Remote Careers
With a growing opportunity in the digital field, now more than ever, the opportunity to work remotely comes closer to reality. Remote careers are increasing in popularity, because let’s face it, who wouldn’t like to work in the comfort of your own home? That means no noisy co-workers jabbering next to you, a relax dress code (and by that we mean the morning’s pajamas), proximity to home and family, and most importantly, great flexibility. Not physically coming into work also means avoiding long crowded train rides or driving and being stuck in traffic. (And coming from city dwellers, we certainly know the commuting struggle!) If the option to work away from the office is something of importance to you, consider these neat jobs. Our list of remote careers can provide you with the job flexibility you crave!
Freelance writing opens the door to several writing opportunities, and the possibility to work for multiple companies at the same time. All companies need a strong writer for writing copy, creating scripts, drafting marketing descriptions, and developing engaging written content. Perks? You can choose to work with companies of your interest or pick topics which you are experienced in.
Small businesses may not have an in-house studio, so there is a high chance they might out-source their promotional video projects. If you have your own top-notch camera, studio equipment, and editing software at home, this may be a great remote opportunity! Bonus– sometimes companies may fly you to different locations to get your shots. Sounds like a sweet vacay to us!
On-Call/Telephone Nurse Consultant
With the increasing popularity of health care going mobile, on-call consultants are needed now more than ever. Nurse consultants have a background in the medical field, but the difference? This is a remote position! Instead of coming in to work, these nurses log into to a telephone call system or online chat room and help answer health questions. This is also a great way to filter some of the traffic coming into health clinics and hospitals, if medical care can be transcribe at home.
Social Media Manager
Here’s a job that did not exist back in the 90’s. Thanks to the increasing popularity of social platforms, social media positions are currently hot jobs on the market. And why not? You get to engage with your brand’s customers on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and all the fun apps during work time! (As if we are not already on them at home… or our lunch breaks.) Since a majority of the job can be complete with a strong internet connection, this is the perfect remote position! Expect frequent Skype calls or Google Hangouts to keep in contact with the rest of your company’s marketing team.
Another essential player in a marketing team is the Email Marketer. If done right, targeting and retargeting customers through email can be one of the most highly successful ways to increase revenue for your business. Like the social media manager, email marketing platforms make it easy to manage subscribers, newsletter templates, and scheduling offers from virtually anywhere.
Enjoying working with finances and numbers? Consider being a remote tax accountant! Clients can easily email or fax over important tax documents for your review. While you don’t necessarily have to come into the office to help out your clients, on special circumstances, you might need to travel door-to-door or to other meet-up locations. In fact, a flexible schedule may even be a great opportunity to attract new customers. Tax season will definitely be your busiest!
How many of you guys read product reviews before purchasing anything new? If your answer is yes, you’re not alone. As consumer intelligence increases, customers are making smart purchasing decisions based on prior research. In an effort to increase awareness for new products, it is not uncommon for brands to send samples to influential writers or bloggers to review and/or give feedback. In fact, Shoplet even has their own Blogger Review Program, a team dedicated to product test new and innovative office supplies, furniture, and technology. (And we’re always looking for enthusiastic writers to join our review team!)
